Provides an easily manageable, single source of truth for operational business decisions
IBM ODM enables organizations to collect their business policies and bring them under centralized Management. These policies consist of the Decision logic used to govern the Operation of the organization. These policies are stored in a rules repository, the organization’s single source of truth, which over time, develops into an Enterprise Asset. The decision logic is then used to develop reusable decision services that can be consumed by the various applications across the organization.
(+) What does IBM ODM do?
- Codifies business policies, practices and regulations
- Allows for direct interaction with the Subject Matter expert in the management of the decision logic
- Decouples the management of decision logic from the development lifecycle of the primary application
(+) How does IBM ODM work?
- Decision Management – Business Policies and other decision logic are captured or collected into a centralized repository for management and reuse across the enterprise.
- Event Processing – Events generated across the enterprise are collected and evaluated. Event history, aggregates, and correlations are evaluated looking for patterns of interest. These patterns could indicate a business situation of interest, like potential fraud or a business opportunity.
- Governance – Provides controls and structure to business logic development, security, structure, and deployment. Multiple levels of governance complexity can be applied to support your specific methodologies and corporate requirements.
- Integration – Business rules implemented as decision services or Rule Applications can be deployed in various forms to support a wide range of implementing technologies. Services can be deployed in large clusters to support extremely high volume implementations, embedded within applications or devices, or any mix in between.
